Re:New Mentoring

Re:New is one-on-one spiritual discipleship mentoring designed to help you grow in your relationship with God, understand more about who you are in Christ, and learn to live in freedom. The process includes a thorough exploration of your past, how your formative years have shaped what you believe about yourself and God, and how to identify false beliefs that keep you stuck in destructive patterns. Mentoring involves weekly in-person sessions of about 1 to 1.5 hours plus weekly homework in the Re:New workbook, and the whole process typically takes four to five months to complete.

Yes, Re:New Mentoring is available to regular attendees of Anthem Church. It's designed as a resource for people who are already part of the church community.

Yes, participants in Re:New must be 18 years of age or older. There isn't an upper age limit, the program is open to any adult attendee of Anthem Church.

Re:New mentors are trained volunteers who are spiritually and emotionally healthy and who have been pursuing a growing relationship with Jesus for at least five years. Each mentor goes through an extensive nine-week training course and continues participating in ongoing training and peer supervision throughout the year.

Re:New is designed as an individual mentoring program, not a program for couples to go through jointly. Each participant works one-on-one with their own mentor.

Mentoring sessions take place at a neutral, safe location rather than the home of the participant or mentor. Possible locations include a room or office at your church campus, a local restaurant, the library, or an office conference room.

There is no cost to participate in Re:New. Each participant is provided with a workbook as part of the program at no charge.

Mentoring sessions happen weekly and each one lasts approximately 60 to 90 minutes, with 1 to 2 hours of homework and preparation required before each session. On average, the program takes four to six months to complete when meeting weekly.

All communication between you and your mentor is kept confidential. The one exception is that state law requires mentors to report any suspected sexual abuse, physical abuse, neglect, or serious threat of physical harm to yourself or others to the appropriate authorities.

Re:New mentoring focuses on the spiritual growth of the participant, helping them discover how to live life as God intended, and is led by trained volunteers rather than licensed professionals. Counselors, by contrast, hold advanced degrees and licensing, and beyond encouraging spiritual growth can provide specialized help with things like relationships, mental health, trauma, active addiction, abuse, and career support that fall outside what Re:New offers.
